While the choice of the route depends on many things, there are some generally popular ones that people have been taking for decades (by car or campervan). So, take a look at some of those recommended by both local guides and those who have travelled around Australia.

Sydney to Melbourne

If cities are your thing, you should definitely consider this epic Australian coastal trip from New South Wales to Victoria. Waiting for you along the way are amazing rainforests, coastal views and you can also stop and go whale watching.

Think about stopping in Kiama, a small village where you can see the marvellous Kiama blowhole and witness water shooting high up into the air. Near this charming place, you can visit the amazing Seven Mile Beach and relax. If you decide to stop in Eden, you can take a whale watching trip and enjoy some of the most spectacular scenes.

Perth to Darwin

This long trip can really turn into one great adventure! Once you leave Perth, you can stop at Shark Bay, where the marine wildlife will do its best to make it worthwhile. Your next stop could be Karijini, where we recommend you inspect your car, because your next leg is quite a lengthy one. We recommend you head for Nitmiluk, although it’s over 2500 km away, but you’ll be treated to some of the most scenic parts of the journey, passing through mountains, breathtaking coast beaches, gorges and villages. The final leg of the trip is much shorter, but equally rewarding in terms of scenery.

Brisbane to Airlie Beach

It is one of the most popular routes, probably because of the wonderful beaches along the way. Still, before you set off, make sure you have a reliable mobile mechanic from Brisbane inspect your vehicle, so that you can focus on enjoying your trip instead of dealing with car issues.

The journey will take you through some nice beachside towns, such as Caloundra, Mooloolaba and Noosa, before you reach Hervey Bay, where you can stop for a whale-watching experience or take a detour and visit the famous Fraser Island and its amazing beaches and lakes. Next stop should be Bundaberg, where you can sample some great rum. Once rested, you can continue towards Yeppoon and Airlie Beach, where you can enjoy diving, snorkelling or take a tour of the Great Barrier Reef.

Sydney to Byron Bay

Since Byron Bay with its great beaches is one of the most popular destinations in Australia, many people like to take this route. Although it could be done in one day, there are so many fantastic stops that can make the journey unforgettable. Your first stop could be the Central Coast, but make sure you visit Hunter Valley on the way. It’s famous for some exquisite wine, so don’t miss an opportunity to visit one of the famous wineries.

From the Central Coast, head towards Port Macquarie and continue in the direction of your final destination, Byron Bay. Even if you don’t make a stop along the way, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most renowned places in Australia.

Of course, there are many other road trips you could take in Australia. It’s really up to you to choose the one that you can afford in terms of both your free time and money. Whichever you take, you’ll be able to have a fantastic time.

Natural wonders, laid-back cities and sandy beaches, are some of the must visit locations in Australia. You’ll love the Aussie atmosphere and natural beauty. It doesn’t matter if you’re a serious traveler or just a simple tourist, we present to you the top must visit locations in Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is synonymous with Australia. It’s about 2,300 km long, making it a home for some of the rarest and most unique flora and fauna on Earth. Of course, you can’t see every part of the reef, but make sure to visit gorgeous Whitsunday Islands. Maybe the best way to see the reef is by taking a two- to three-day sailing tour. The Great Barrier Reef is full of scuba diving and snorkeling spots unique to the area and you will remember those sights forever.

Byron Bay

Byron Bay (1)

Byron Bay is not only popular with tourists, but it’s also a beloved vacation destination for many Aussies. It has many kilometers of sandy beaches, beautiful weather, surfing waves, scuba diving spots and many other attractions. Make sure you see the lighthouse at sunset and take some amazing photos or enjoy some music at the range of festivals all over the year. Byron Bay can be a bit crowded at times, but that’s normal for a top destination and a place as beautiful as this.

Uluru

Uluru

If you decide to visit Australia, you just have to see Uluru. Uluru is a huge sandstone formation surrounded by springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. It’s a sacred place for the Aboriginal people from that area, full of magic and history, and is simply so magnificent you must see it too. You can take a guided tour from Adelaide that lasts about three beautiful days. You’ll get to see not only Uluru, but explore the natural wonders of Watarrka National Park, see boulders of Kata Tjuta and have beautiful meals under the stars. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Sydney

Sydney

You simply can’t visit Australia and not see Sydney! It offers so many interesting and beautiful sites to see. Enjoy the view of the famous Opera House from the Sydney Harbour, check out the Sydney Zoo and the renowned Mainly beach. If you want to see Sydney from above, visit Sydney Tower and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the city. If you’re young (or young at heart) remember that Sydney’s one of Australia’s nightlife centers. It has so many different clubs, bars or pubs that everybody will be able to find their favorite spot. When in Sydney, make sure to visit Randwick, especially if you’re a sports lover. Randwick is a suburb in Eastern Sydney that offers all kinds of activities from chill walks to competitive team sports. But, make sure to take a walk along Randwick’s Coastal Walkway and enjoy wonderful views, and unique flora and fauna of the coastline. If you’re a surfer, you can try out the waves at Maroubra or Coogee Beach or simply enjoy surf carnivals from the shore. There are many Randwick serviced apartments located close to Randwick’s main attractions, so you don’t even have to worry about transport. Relax and have fun!

Melbourne

Melbourne

The indescribable atmosphere, art, multiculturalism, food and nightlife all make Melbourne a must-visit place in Australia. But, you simply must take a drive on the Great Ocean Road. What is interesting about this coastal road are the sights you’ll see on your way. Strong waves and winds over time created giant monoliths of rocks that are called the 12 Apostles. Now there are only eight still standing, but are definitely worth seeing.

Australia has so many things to offer, and every traveler will find something to spark their interest. Start planning your trip and pick the hotels that suit your budget and your itinerary. Welcome to the Land Down Under and enjoy!

Sydney’s Lush Restaurant Scene

sydneyslushrestaurantscene

The dining scene in Sydney can be described just like the city itself: world-class and extraordinary. Award-winning restaurants (40 single-hatted and four three-hatted Chefs Hat Award included) are shiny examples of its offer, but also the less-known and secluded joints. Whether you find yourself in the heart of the city, near Sydney Harbour Bridge or somewhere in the city’s east, you will find diverse food and pleasant ambiance on offer. Here are eight of the most interesting foodie havens in this Aussie gem:

The Meat & Wine Co

Sydney’s very own steakhouse spread across five different locations is everything a meat lover could ever wish for. The elegant, yet relaxed dining ambiance is a unique blend of local decor and African heritage. Offering every guest an experience to remember, The Meat & Wine Co serves only top quality meals and pairs them with Australia’s finest wines. Everything you decide to try from Argentinean spiced chicken breast to pork ribs will leave you wanting more.

Nomad

The living proof that hipsters are taking over the world: Nomad is a trendy warehouse-restaurant serving organic locally produced meals, but that is not all. Most of the meals are prepared in a huge wood fire oven which gives them a unique taste that keeps people coming back to Nomad. Oh and there wine cellar plays a big role here too.

Mr. Wong

There is a special unbreakable bond between Australians and Chinese food, and Mr Wong, one of the largest restaurants in the northern end of CBD, is one of the threads making that bond. Bringing the spirit of the Sleeping Dragon to Down Under, this restaurant is beautifully decorated with Chinese colonial furniture and ornaments. The food is nothing short of amazing and the dishes we know as fast food are transformed into elegant meals.

Whitewater Restaurant

Located in the peaceful suburb of Manly, this restaurant offers the ideal view of a giant beach promenade. The decor stuns with exposed wooden beams, shells and fishnets on the wall, mimicking the outside perfectly. The food is even better. You can’t go wrong with roasted Chinese duck, crumbed lamb loin with olives and pistachio and seafood plate, but for the first time it is always best to go with the succulent degustation menu with five most popular dishes.

sydneyslushrestaurantscene5

Hubert

Time Out’s winner of the Restaurant of the Year Award, Hubert is a romantic and ravishing restaurant that makes you feel like you’re in the most dazzling eatery in the post-war Europe – fringed lamps, scarlet drapes and bow-tied waiters. It doesn’t get any better or does it? Well only when you try the tomato tart and chicken fricassee…

sydneyslushrestaurantscene6

Zaaffran

The most alluring Indian restaurant in the entire city, Zaaffran aspires to please each visitor with a combination of sweeping interior, view of Sydney Harbour and spicy delicious meals. There is nothing here not to like – aromatic rice infused with saffron, creamy Indian cottage cheese cubes, chicken masala, lobster meat stir fried in curry… we could go on for days.

Son of Tuysuz

Another international diner with dishes from Turkey straight to Australia, Son of Tuysuz is a warm and welcoming place, where food and guests are highly appreciated. The owner, Ifran, learned to cook authentic middle-eastern food from his father, and he never seizes to amaze his guests with fantastic dishes (fistic kebab, iskender burger, chicken breast kebab) and home-like atmosphere.

Chiswick Restaurant

Anthony Bourdain loved this place when he visited Sydney, so there is nothing much left for us to say. Still, we have to mention that Chiswick is unique for the unbreakable link between food production and preparation, since the meat, vegetables and fruits come from Chef Matt Moran’s farm. Here, you can try tantalize your taste buds with lamb with zucchini and pine nut, smoked ocean trout, house-made mortadella, grilled baby octopus and plenty more.
